Natural Deodorant

Embracing natural beauty goes beyond creams, moisturizers, shampoos and makeup, it concerns anything we put in and on our bodies, including deodorants and antiperspirants.

Your conventional deodorant is one of the most toxic things in your hygiene routine as it can be full of aliminium compounds and other hormone disruptors, which is liked to alzheimer’s and breast cancer as aluminium is known to accumulate in breast tissue leading to increased cancer risk.

Not only does our armpits absorb the chemicals such as aluminium and hormones disruptors, two things you don't want anywhere near your lymph nodes or your breasts, but our armpits are also one of our natural pathways of elimination, a pathway in which conventional deodorants and antiperspirants block.

The dangers of blocking sweat

Antiperspirant literally means “stop perspiration”. The chemicals in antiperspirant formulas are designed to clog up the pores of your underarms, preventing sweat from escaping. The pore-blocking ingredient in most antiperspirants is aluminum salts or zirconium. I think that just by reading these lines, you figure out that using an antiperspirant does more harm than good, because it's blocking that exit, which is extremely dangerous, as our body is design to sweat and so by sweating our body naturally detoxes.

Especially antiperspirants, but also other chemical-laden deodorants work to clog up pores and therefore doesn't allow the body to properly release the sweat necessary which is our body's way of releasing toxins and regulating temperature.

Are your products safe?

Many of us have spent so much money on beauty products over the years, products that where supposed to make us feel good about ourselves, but the fact is that many of these products actually are the root cause of the issues that make us sick, like hormone related issues such as acne, infertility, PMS, fatigue, cancer etc. Your breast are directly related to your hormonal health as a whole, so take care of your entire body by eliminating the exposure to toxins and chemicals as much as possible. Keep the pathways of elimination open, and allow your body to properly remove toxic waste.

I highly recommend that you switch to a natural deodorant, but keep in mind that the transition period may be stinky as your armpits detox, but the cleaner you eat, the less you'll smell. Daily charcoal or clay underarm mask can help with the detox process.

I've tried many different natural deodorants over the years, some which works wonders, and some which don't. One that works well for me, doesn't work at all for one of my friends, so don't give up if you don't find the right one on your first try. There is also plenty of recipes on easy, homemade deodorants online.
